MISSALETTE FARM REPRESENTATIVES AT MID-A MORGAN
Missalette Farm is pleased to announce the success of two young mares at the Mid-A Morgan Horse Show 2010, which took place at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia.
Harwich Lalique (Harwich Tyrant x Battersea Lilette) is a four-year-old owned by Jebb Cuthbert of Fighting Minnow Farm in Charlottesville, Virginia. She has been brought along beautifully by Michele Rhodes, who has started this novice mare at local open shows to great advantage. Mid-A was Lalique’s first “A” show since her spectacular win at the ODMHA Show as a weanling in Sport Horse Suitability Three & Under in a class of nine.
At this year’s Mid-A, Michele presented Lalique in the Low Hunter Division. It was poetry to watch this pair get as good as it gets as each class proceeded. The first round placed them fourth of nine, and in the second and third round of fences they placed third and second respectively. In the Under Saddle class, Michele rode Lalique to the blue, gleaning a reserve championship for this young mare in the Low Working Hunters.
Sylvia Brohawn of Morgan Brook Meadows in Laurel, Delaware, purchased Harwich Dido (Harwich Tyrant x Harwich Cosette) as a weanling, with the knowledge that Dido would be able to carry on her sire’s legacy. Needless to say, Sylvia is Tyrant’s biggest fan. She found a perfect match in Jessica Parker to bring this filly along in her training. This young pair has bonded, and “Jessie” did a fabulous job at her first “A” show with Dido.
Starting out with a second in Sport Horse Suitability Three & Under, they then proceeded into four Introductory Dressage tests. This is where Dido’s sire’s genes shone! Jessie rode three-year-old Dido to a third place out of ten on day one, and on day two, they placed second in their first test and first in the last one! Practice made perfect – they were a thrill to watch.
The 2010 Mid-A Morgan Show was a tremendous success for two half-siblings bred by Missalette Farm. Harwich Tyrant has once again shown his ability to produce top sport horses, and we are proud of and grateful to the owners of his offspring who are carrying on his tradition. Tyrant is now enjoying the good life with his new owner, Judy Peterson, in Chesterfield, Virginia.
